Marius Busemeyer was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research Funding Network (FIS Advisory Board) at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). The advisory board supports the ministry in designing the research funding programme of the aforementioned funding network (especially for projects, junior research groups and endowed professorships).

Am 12. Juni 2022 verstarb im Alter von 94 Jahren der renommierte Politikwissenschaftler Gerhard Lehmbruch, der lange Jahre als Professor für Materielle Staatstheorie am Fachbereich gelehrt hat. Er hat durch seine Forschung den Fachbereich nachhaltig geprägt. Der Fachbereich wird Gerhard Lehmbruch ein dankbares Andenken bewahren.
