Jana Gómez Díaz

Doctoral Researcher

Jana Gómez Díaz is a researcher in the EU-SOCIETY project, where she investigates street-level discrimination against mobile EU citizens within four national administrative contexts. Concurrently, Jana is finalizing her PhD in Political and Social Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University. Her doctoral research delves into the intricacies of trust dynamics in public policy-making, with a specific focus on the role of specialized agencies in shaping trust among actors within the regulatory regime.

Previously, Jana served as a pre-doctoral researcher at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), contributing to the EU Horizon 2020 project ‘Trust in Governance and Regulation in Europe’ (TiGRE). Beyond academia, she has practical experience as a policy advisor at the German Parliament in Berlin. Jana holds a bachelor’s degree in European Studies from Passau University, a Research Master’s in Political Science from Pompeu Fabra University, and a Master’s in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz.

Research

Jana's research revolves around themes associated with the regulatory regime. In a broad sense, she explores the dynamics of interactions among various actors within the regulatory regime, including legislators, regulators, judiciaries, citizens, and different stakeholders, and investigates their repercussions. Her work encompasses the examination of street-level discrimination against mobile EU citizens in four distinct national administrative contexts. Additionally, Jana delves into trust dynamics in public policy-making, with a specific emphasis on the influence of specialized agencies in shaping trust among actors within the regulatory regime. She also explores the reasons behind and consequences of overburdened bureaucracies.
