Nils Röper is a postdoctoral research fellow in the of Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality." 
 
His work looks at the politics of pension and financial systems. He is particularly interested the role of business actors in political processes. His main theoretical interests lie within institutional theory and discursive institutionalism. He probes into questions such as: How do actors use discourse to further their political goals? How do political ideas ‘travel’ across countries? 
 
His research has been published in New Political Economy, Comparative Political Studies, Review of International Political Economy and Business and Politics. 
 
Beyond academia, he comments on current events. His popular writing has appeared in outlets such as Le Monde Diplomatique, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, Capital, and Die Zeit.
 
Before coming to Konstanz, he studied at the University of Passau (B.Sc. and B.A.), New York University (M.A.) and the University of Oxford (DPhil).
