Abstract:

This research project attempts to shed light on the linkage between refugee flows and the spread of conflict across borders. Current literature, which primarily can be found in conflict studies, show that refugees do indeed spread violence across state borders. However, they lack to identify clear causal mechanisms. With the help of (social an clinical) psychology, this project attempts to theoretically identify potential causal mechanisms and test them in the field by interviewing Congolese refugees in the Nakivale refugee settlement in Uganda.
