Thies Niemeier

Thies Niemeier is a PhD candidate at the Graudate School of the Social and Behavioural Sciences (GSBS) at the University of Konstanz. His research focuses on Cooperation in the area of International Relations, applied to the subfield of Economic Sanctions. Thereby, it touches upon Secondary Sanctions, Intergovernmental Organisations, and International Trade.

His work is financed by a PhD scholarship from the Stiftung Deutsche Wirtschaft (sdw). He worked as a research assistant at the Chair of International Relations and has taught on the topic of economic sanctions at the University of Lucerne. Thies currently functions as the doctoral representative at the GSBS and at the Committee on Research (AFF) of the University of Konstanz.

Previously, Thies obtained an M.A. degree in Political Economy from the University of Lucerne and a B.A. in International Business Studies from Coventry University. During his M.A. studies, he focused on International Political Economy, Economic Sanctions, and Econometrics.
