Alexander Klein is a doctoral student at the Chair of Political Science and International Politics of Prof. Dr. Dirk Leuffen since September 2021. At the same time, he is a member of the Graduate School of the Social and Behavioural Sciences. His dissertation deals with the integration of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) into the European Union from a social science perspective.

Apart from his dissertation project, Alexander is interested in International Politics, in particular, issues of European Integration and the influence of historical legacies on contemporary events. Furthermore, Alexander has an interest in quantitative research methods.

Alexander holds a Master of Arts in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz and a Master of Science in European studies from the University of Gothenburg, which he both obtained from the universities’ integrated double degree program. For his Bachelor’s degree he studied Political Science and History at the University of Mannheim including an exchange semester at the University of Oslo.
