The Eric Tanenbaum Prize is an annual prize awarded to the best Postgraduate student by the Department of Government of the University of Essex. In his Master's thesis, Philipp investigated how local economic conditions, measured with night-time light emissions, influence the likelihood of anti-regime protest in authoritarian Iran.
