Tuition fees

In 2007, tuition fees were introduced in Baden-Württemberg. All students attending a state-run university in Baden-Württemberg or a "Berufsakademie", who were pursueing BA or MA studies had to pay € 500 per semester in tuition fees. The proceeds of the tuition fees were used to improve the conditions for studies and the quality of teaching. Together with the student union of the department, the administration hence developed a concept for the use of the tuition fees. That concept was confirmed both by the council of the department and the university-study council. The concept is being reviewed and adapted periodically.  Further information on how the tuition fees were destinated by the department during the last years can be found here.

Qualitiy Management Funds

In 2011, the government of Baden-Württemberg took the decision to abolish tuition fees from summer semester 2012 onward. In order to compensate the payments, the universities receive alternative funds by the government, the so called "Qualitiy Management Funds". The Department of Politics and Public Administration uses these compensation funds in a similar way than the former incomes from tuition fees. To assure transparency, you can obtain information about the financial plans regarding the funds at our department in 2012.
